OUR MISSION

At Doggart & Squash, we have spent a lot of time looking at every corner of how we run our business and making changes that we hope will benefit our team, our clients and most importantly our planet.

We are conscious of our environmental impact and we’ve always championed seasonal menus (because we genuinely believe them to be the most delicious) and tried to minimise waste to the best of our abilities. Now, we are taking this one step further and are committed to delivering the most environmentally responsible events we can, whilst always making sure that they are truly unforgettable, down to the tiniest detail.

OUR Values

Every member of staff at Doggart & Squash is considered a part of our family including our pool of brilliant part-time staff who help us run our events. We understand (first hand) that events and kitchens can be demanding and stressful environments to work in, so we strive to make our working environment as nurturing and positive as possible.

We are always looking for ways in which our kitchen and cooking facilities can help people struggling with their mental health. Annually, we host four cooking demonstration with the amazing guys at Key 4 Life. We are also looking to offer 3 day work placements for the amazing men from Key 4 life. Our team also our involved in the Key 4 Life mentoring scheme at London prisons.

In our local area we have committed to giving a monthly donation and volunteering for our local homeless shelter Ace of Clubs.

OUR SUPPLIERS

We have trust in our wonderful suppliers whom we select based on their own traceability for their produce. Our suppliers (old and new) are issued with the Supplier Code of Conduct; it details what they can expect from Doggart & Squash, but also asks that they review their own responsibilities where possible in terms of waste, emissions and packaging.

Some examples of these suppliers are: Natoora, Rushtons, Bold Beans, JENKI ,Dash Water, Longman’s Cheese, East London Liquor, Islands Chocolate, Press Coffee, Sapling Vodka, Catering24, Direct Meats, James Knight of Mayfair, Bread Bread, Liberty Wines, Gusbourne.

OUR WASTE

We hate waste and are constantly on the lookout for new ways to cut down. In our kitchens, our chefs use every last bit of the ingredients that they can to cook with. Our unusable food is collected by Quantum Waste who take it to selected biogas factories where it is turned into renewable energy. Any waste cooking oil is collected by Cater Oils where they then recycle the oil into green bio-diesel. Our chopping boards are all resurfaced rather than replaced through the amazing Nella Cut.

OUR EMISSIONS

For our events, we generally find staff who are local to the venue and encourage them to car share if necessary. Our own van is ULEZ friendly and we are saving up for an electric one. We always try to book couriers with electric transport for our London deliveries.

Our outside events are powered by generators - these aren’t our favourite, but at the moment it’s the only option. We do now offer all of our clients an option to offset the emissions of their event through our partnership with My Carbon Plan which we think is a good step in the right direction.

Sadly, it's impossible to measure our company’s carbon emissions. What we can do, and are doing, is offsetting each of the team’s carbon emissions through My Carbon Plan. The average person in the UK uses 9.3 tonnes of C02 every year. Our contribution goes towards planting willow trees, these are then harvested every 3 years and used for bio-energy.

OUR FUTURE

Whilst we are very proud of the changes we have made, there is still heaps of work to be done. We are always on the lookout for ways to do better and encourage all of our clients, staff and suppliers to give us any feedback and ideas. We are proud to support Terra Carta from HM The Kings’s Sustainable Markets Initiative.
